Oyster Bay, 120 guests
Half the guest list was flying in from abroad, and the bride wanted to give them a real New York bar night. So that's what we built.

It started before the party did, aguas frescas waiting as guests stepped out of the ceremony: Palo Santo, Cucumber & Yuzu; Pineapple, Orange & Ginger; Lemon, Granny Smith & Celery.

At the reception, the bar opened all the way up, three cocktails created for the couple, a non-alcoholic cocktail, and a list of classic cocktails twenty-five deep. Negronis, margaritas, whiskey sours, a steady run of Cosmopolitans, and the bride's favorite cocktail: the Last Word. Some guests went four or five cocktails deep without repeating one. Others stayed loyal to their Old Fashioned all night, one big ice cube.

By late afternoon, glasses came out of the freezer frosted solid for a frozen martini station, Dry Gin, Dirty Vodka, Gibson, and Vesper, paired with oysters and caviar.

After dark, an espresso martini station closed out the night, four spirits to choose from, four garnishes, espresso salt to shaved white chocolate.

Four bar experiences in one night. The guests from abroad got their New York.

"The bar was one of the highlights of the event, beautifully set up, incredibly professional, and a huge hit with our guests... We received so many compliments and several guests asked who we had hired for the bar."
